The Color of Love

The Color of Love will capture your interest from the very first page and you won't be able to put it down. Set in a small town call Blessings, in Georgia, Ruby is confronted by her abusive ex-husband at the very beginning and the story never slows down at any point. This story keeps you on the edge of your seat with Ruby and Peanut's romance, the secondary characters' involvement, and the absolute suspense that only Sharon Sala can create. Out of all of Sharon Sala's books, this is the one of her best. *JK*

Toughest Cowboy in Texas

Toughest Cowboy in Texas by Carolyn Brown was an enjoyable, well-paced, small town romance, with a bit of the second chance element tossed in. There was a relationship with the characters in the past, but it was never one that was allowed to grow and neither of them saw it was something with a future, so while this was a second chance, it really was more of their first chance to explore what they had without it having an automatic expiration date. But at the same time, she was only there for the summer... so it was like a do-over of their history, but as adults.
Lila and Brody have chemistry, but they also like each other and appreciate one another for who they are. The story at the end was so perfect that you get to see how they really felt about each other. Don't worry! I won't spoil the ending! You will know what happens when you get there and it's perfect! *JK*

A Piece of My Heart

A Piece of My Heart is the fourth book from the Blessings, Georgia series by Sharon Sala. The main character, Mercy Dane has no memory of her family and lived in a foster care home while growing up. When she receives a call on Christmas Day to donate her rare blood to save an accident victim, she jumps on her motorcycle and races to Blessings. Never in a million years did she expect to find the victim is her long-lost sister, one she had no knowledge of. Then there was another surprise where she finds out that the police chief is the same man who comforted her when her apartment was broken into years before.

The romance is sweet, the characters are delightful, and the plot is realistic. The story is definitely an emotional roller coaster which will make you cry at the end. The ending is by far one of the best I have read in a while, and the suspenseful elements are "grab onto your seat and hold on!". *JK*

Million Dollar Cowboy

Million Dollar Cowboy by Lori Wilde is a heartwarming story that will have you melting for Ridge Lockhart. He grabbed my heart as the little boy abandoned by his mother and raised by a man who never accepted him. Ridge was the illegitimate son who butted heads with his macho father, a father who betrayed him in such a personally hurtful way. This gave him a goal to leave and to make himself more successful than his father ever could be. Ten years later he reluctantly comes home to prove it to the old man.

The whole setting of the story is rich with description, but also with the inner dialogue of both main characters. You read about their inner struggles to find a good balance of work, family and love. Ridge is a complex character because he doesn't know what it is to have love in his love and doesn't recognize it. I loved his journey and how it wasn't easy to let go of the past and move forward. This was a very well written story. *JK*

Mistletoe Games

Mistletoe Games is an anthology of the three novellas in the Play by Play series by Jaci Burton. Each takes place during the Christmas holiday and are short for a great evening read. The three holiday novellas: Holiday Games, Holiday on Ice, and Hot Holiday Nights are sexy, passionate and a little bit naughty!

As always, the writing is well done. The characters are independent, strong, sporty, and deliciously handsome. And the plot builds and flows nicely with a good dose of drama, chemistry, sexual tension, and sizzling sex scenes.

Overall, this is a fun, entertaining, easy read that would be a great "naughty" stocking stuffer. *JK*

Don't Tempt Me

Don't Tempt Me is the first book of the series by Lori Foster. It's a contemporary romance set in a small town and the story features two couples in a single book. Don't Tempt Me can definitely get you hooked from the very first page. You will immediately fall in love with Honor Brown and Lexie Perkins. As best friends, they certainly get along, but they also couldn't be more different to one another. While Honor is a little more reserved and independent, Lexie is seen as more of the party girl.

Don't Tempt Me is sweet, sexy and funny. It has all the things you will look for in a contemporary romance. *JK*

A Summer to Remember

A Summer to Remember is a feel-good romance that will touch your heart and stir your sense of hope that hurt doesn't have to last forever. This is a romance story that will make you laugh, cry and believe in hope. Author Marilyn Pappano puts her characters in true life situations giving them realistic hardships many of us face daily. The story has a touch of humor, lots of love and friendship and a good measure of hope for a well-rounded story you don't want to miss.

The characters are also well developed, likable and so realistic they could be your neighbors down the street. Pappano doesn't seem to sugar coat the fears, anxieties and loss military families face daily, along with their everyday problems. She adds in a good mix of strength and determination with a respectable support group. *JK*

Hot in Hellcat Canyon

Hot in Hellcat Canyon by Julie Anne Long is a great beach read! It's beautifully written and unhurried, it's a perfect book for a hot summer day!

The author writes beautifully with precise words, great similes and metaphors, and developed characters, and insightful observations. Although she has written many historical romance series, Hot in Hellcat Canyon is her first foray into contemporary romance.

This is the story of a heroine, Britt, who is "emotionally hiding out" in a community called Hellcat Canyon after a distressing marriage. The Hero, JT, is a movie star who had a rough childhood, has a failing career, and is just coming off of a bad five-year relationship. He is looking over Hellcat Canyon because it's the location of an upcoming TV series he will be starring in. Then his ex, rich, famous and beautiful Rebecca, shows up and there is a lot of conflict related to this. But, of course you can guess what happens in the end. *JK*

All of Me

All of Me by Kelly Moran is the second book in the Covington Cove series and it can also be read as a stand-alone. This was such a great book. I was hooked from the first page. The characters are so well written, they feel like friends. I didn't want to put it down. This is Alec and Faith's story and I found both to be very likable characters. I really wanted them to get together and live happily ever after. Of course there is some baggage from the past that gets in the way. It was a fun, emotional ride to see if they could overcome the obstacles in their way. *JK*
